WILDERNESS
She’d been round that curve a hundred times in the past 24 years,
Sometimes, with her boerbul sitting behind in excited anticipation for the freedom, new sights & sounds & most important – new smells!
Sometimes her baby was with her – carefully buckled in the carseat - then, as she grew, with friends & fierce teenage pride.
But, that morning – alone, in quiet peace, with no concept of the glory awaiting...
The sensual explosion rendered her spirit numb – yet, never had she felt more alive than at that moment.
The great ball of fire shot flames, slicing darkness. Hues of lemon, naartjie & aubergine – a reverberating furnace spilt over sea & sand.
